i took this image a couple miles down a dried river bed, my sister was climbing up ever slot canyon she could find, and i was running wild with my camera. it was the first painting i completed that made me feel like i could paint landscape. it took days, working and reworking each area, problem solving the palate and how it reflected the colors and shadows and values. this piece is full of so much admiration, and titled with the reminder that the pretty rocks hold a deeper value. 2024.
